Volunteers from several Kanawha Valley groups and businesses - plus the Charleston Area Alliance and state Department of Environmental Protection - will hold a "sustainability fair" all day May 30 at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore on Young Street near the farmers market.
More than 75 exhibits and speakers are scheduled. City trolleys will shuttle folks from the Laidley Street transit mall. Ways to save energy and money will be featured. Local food-growing will be spotlighted. A "critical mass bicycle ride" will stress healthy exercise and gasoline-saving. How to make homes and buildings less energy-wasteful will be a discussion topic. Recycling valuable used materials also will be discussed.
