More than 2,100 West Virginians will receive refunds totaling more than $605,000 from a settlement with two pharmaceutical companies, Attorney General Darrell McGraw said Monday.
Nationwide, $24 million in refunds will be distributed as part of the settlement of a multistate consumer-protection lawsuit filed in 2003 against Aventis Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Andrx Corp. The lawsuit alleged that, beginning in 1998, Andrx was paid by a third company, Hoechst, to not market a generic version of the blood- pressure drug Cardizem CD.
