West Virginia Utility Assistance Program Reaches Service Goal

Summary

The West Virginia Utility Assistance Program, an initiative of Dollar Energy Fund, has surpassed its goal of helping 1,500 low- income households prevent a utility shut-off or restore service statewide.

Since the program started accepting applications on Oct. 1, it has provided 1,520 households - or 4,211 people - with grants totaling more than $437,000. This was possible primarily through the support of the Salvation Army, corporate and foundation contributors, and six partnering utility companies - Allegheny Power, AEP, Dominion Hope, Equitable Gas, Mountaineer Gas and West Virginia American Water.
