Verizon expected to restore service to a large number of customers in the Bigley/Pennsylvania avenues area of Charleston late Friday, after a city maintenance crew damaged an underground cable earlier this week.
Verizon technicians have been working day and night at the intersection of Bigley Avenue and Spring Street in Charleston, a Verizon spokeswoman said. Several hundred customers were affected in an outage that spanned an area north of the city. The number of customers without phone service has steadily dropped during the past several days.
