Summary


Workers began removing part of the concrete median dividers at four sites along the north end of the West Virginia Turnpike on Wednesday, clearing the way for emergency gates that will allow traffic to be rerouted in the event of emergencies.

The metal emergency gates, which function as part of the median divider when not in use, will be installed at Mileposts 61, 63, 68 and 76, near Mossy, Mahan, the southbound rest area, and the Paint Creek interchange.
