BALTIMORE - On a quiet, cool day at Pimlico Race Course, trainer Michael Trombetta stood in front of the stakes barn Monday and spoke with authority about how Sweetnorthernsaint was going to turn in a redemptive performance in the Preakness.

His Maryland-based horse got off to a troubling start in the Kentucky Derby and finished a distant seventh behind Barbaro, but Trombetta quickly put the disappointment behind him and has turned his focus toward winning a race he considers to be equally important.
