Summary


We took down the electric fence that surrounded our garden today and rolled up the wire. We put summer away as well. It seems only yesterday that we looked forward anxiously to spring and warm weather so we could plow the garden. Now the season is turning, slowly but inexorably.

I love the gleaning of the garden before it is all cut down. We salvage a few tomatoes from the drying vines, pick some green peppers that have matured and a few scrappy green beans. It seems the last of the garden is sweeter than the first - perhaps because we know it is the last until next spring.
