Stolen goods taken to local pawnshops, which might have gone untracked before, are being seized by police with the help of some new technology.

In four months, the Charleston Police Department has recovered more than $80,000 worth of stolen property using LeadsOnline, a new electronic database that allows officers to check items pawned or bought by anyone with a Charleston address, even if they are pawned out-of-state, said Sgt. Eric Hodges with the department's Criminal Investigation Division.
