State Jobless Rate Down to 4.7 Percent

West Virginia's unemployment rate fell nine-tenths of a percentage point to 4.7 percent in September, spurred by a jump in jobs in the service-providing sector, Workforce West Virginia said Monday.

The sector provided seasonal gains of 3,700 jobs in government and 1,600 in educational and health services.
