Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday advanced a bill to toughen the state ethics law - after exempting themselves from part of it. As drafted, part of the bill (HB2464) would prevent legislators, elected officials and top administrative staffers from returning to the Capitol as lobbyists for one year after leaving public office.
