Sabbatical Contract Missing for Ex-Wvu Vice Chancellor

Summary


A legislative audit released Sunday found that the Higher Education Policy Commission paid a former vice chancellor more than $171,000 in salary and benefits for a one-year teaching sabbatical at West Virginia University - but higher education officials could not find a copy of any contract.

The audit found that the Policy Commission had reimbursed the salary and benefits paid to Dr. Donald Weston for the year he taught at the Charleston division of the WVU School of Medicine, after he resigned as vice chancellor on June 30, 2001.
