West Virginia University's Alex Ruoff, Allison Spiker and Reed Williams were each recipients of the Big East Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Awards, which recognize academic and athletic achievement and community service.

Ruoff, a junior from Spring Hill, Fla., was named a third-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American last season. Ruoff started every game this year for the men's basketball team, averaging 13.8 points and 3.4 rebounds. He was third in the Big East in 3-point field goals made (2.74 per game) and in 3-point field goal percentage (40.9).
