Residents Send Web Messages of Support to Troops

Summary


In 2004, the U.S. Department of Defense launched "America Supports You," a Web site (www.americasupportsyou.mil) where citizens can send messages of encouragement and support to American troops serving overseas.

According to the Web site, "all events and information will be highlighted on this America Supports You Website that allows participants to register and be recognized, share their stories of support with the nation and the troops, and download program materials for distribution and dissemination. Military members can access the Web and learn about America's support for their service."

Residents Send Web Messages of Support to Troops

Since its beginning, more than 220,000 messages have been sent to military personnel serving overseas. Of these, nearly 1,500 have been sent by West Virginians.

To send a message, go to www.americasupportsyou.mil and click on "Thank The Troops" on the right side of the screen.

Below is a sampling of messages from Metro Kanawha area residents:
