For-Profit Colleges Adopt Conduct Code

Summary


A national group of for-profit colleges says its members will now follow a code of conduct designed to crack down on abuses that have rocked the industry's public image.

The Coalition for Educational Success, which represents career colleges serving 350,000 students at nearly 500 campuses, unveiled its Standards of Responsible Conduct on Thursday. It will cover disclosures of tuition costs and job-placement rates, and more transparent financial aid policies.
