A proposed state policy to eliminate student suspensions for the lowest-level offenses came under fire from teachers' unions and school principals on Tuesday, with opponents saying the rule change allows disruptive kids to stay in the classroom and steps on teachers' toes.
Judy Hale, president of the West Virginia Federation of Teachers, told members of the state Board of Education that she applauds the policy's intent, but the changes strip authority from teachers.See the full content of this document
