Pendleton Bats Suspected of Carrying Fungal Disease

Summary


Bats suspected to be carrying white-nose syndrome, the fungal disease that has killed thousands of bats in the Northeast, have been found in four Pendleton County caves, according to the state Division of Natural Resources.

The National Wildlife Health Laboratory in Madison, Wis., is culturing fungi taken from bats collected for testing by DNR personnel.
