Since the Charleston Civic Center opened nearly three decades ago, the notion has persisted that it's a difficult place to shoot a basketball, that its spaciousness is a shock to players accustomed to small gyms.
For at least the first half of West Virginia State's 86-74 quarterfinal victory over Pitt Johnstown Thursday, the notion made sense.
