Born on May 21, 1926, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Freeman and Freda Nottingham.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard V. Acree of Summersville; daughter and son-in-law, Julia Dawn and Stephen W. Brown of Montgomery; grandson, Leonard Darrell Brown of Tucson, Ariz.; and aunt, Lorena Nichols of Lodi, Ohio.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, December 4, at Wilson- Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Herbert Vance officiating. Burial will follow in Clay Memorial Gardens. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Heartley Anderson Sr.

Heartley Anderson Sr., 77, of Charleston died Saturday, November 29, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital, Charleston. The moment his heart stopped beating on this earth, he was in Heaven with our Lord, just as it states in the scripture, I say, and will rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

He was born May 5, 1931, in Charleston and was a son of the late Ernest H. and Hazel Ruth Starr Anderson.

Heartley was a retired captain with the Charleston Fire Department Station 7 with 29 years of service. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, Charleston. He was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran, serving on the Franklin D. Roosevelt.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosa Anderson; sons, Heartley Anderson Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Big Chimney and John Anderson and his wife, Carla, of Texas; daughter and caregiver, Dreama K. Spencer and husband, Emmit, of Big Chimney; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, at Bartlett- Burdette-Cox Funeral Home with the Rev. James Warren officiating. Entombment will be in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
