The Ohio River Valley Regional Round of the 2007 "Mountain Stage" NewSong Contest starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at Parkersburg's Blennerhassett Hotel. The round features semifinal winners of the national contest from West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky. Admission is $15.

Now in its sixth year, the "Mountain Stage" NewSong Contest is one of the nation's premier showcases for emerging performing songwriters in all genres of music. A total of 12 finalists will be picked to perform in the international contest finals held in New York City on Sept. 22 - seven of them coming from regional rounds held across the U.S. and Canada.
