ALBANY, N.Y. - New York has reached a settlement with two firms accused of hyping the costs and benefits of their medical discount card programs, including one that promised consumers savings of as much as 80 percent.
Under the settlement announced Wednesday by state Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, Medadvantage LLC of Southfield, Mich., and Houston-based National Association of Preferred Providers/Family Care paid the state $15,000 and $10,000, respectively.
