Capital opened the tournament by beating Mountain State (Riverside High) 15-2 and continued on to defeat tournament favorite Roane County (Roane High) 8-2, South Putnam (Winfield High) 5-1, and Northeast/Sissonville (Riverside and Sissonville High) 12-4. Capital then faced the Mountaineers (South Charleston High) for the District Flag, overpowering them 6-3.
