Metro 911 Backup System's Fourth Trial to Be Held Today

Metro 911 will test its emergency backup telephone system again this morning after failing its third test in 10 days on Wednesday morning.

"Today, we tested the emergency system provided by Verizon and the 911 lines rang busy rather than being directed to the [backup] Brooks Street location," Metro President Kent Carper wrote in a letter to Verizon on Wednesday. "I do not know how to make this any clearer: This is unacceptable. A busy signal for 911 doesn't cut it."
