ATLANTA - A man who shot his neighborhood postal carrier in a bid to go to prison and avoid mounting medical debt pleaded guilty Friday to attempted murder of a federal employee and other charges.

William Crutchfield, 60, shot carrier Earl Lazenby, 52, five to seven times in the driveway of Crutchfield's Snellville home June 29.
