Summary
Already, 52 of West Virginia's 55 counties have no chance to provide 180 days of public school instruction in the 2008-09 term as required by state law. Too many snow closures - added to all the other reasons why school systems halt teaching - mean the 52 counties cannot reach 180 days before the mandatory June 8 shutdown date.
Also, as Statehouse correspondent Phil Kabler reported, the three remaining counties - Kanawha, Berkeley and Hardy - likewise will fail to meet the 180-day rule if they suffer one more day of snow wipeout.
