The city of Huntington plans to spend $5.1 million to renovate the Big Sandy Arena.

On Thursday, the West Virginia Economic Development Authority authorized the city to issue tax-exempt bonds to replace 6,500 seats, overhaul the arena's plaza, buy a new 800-ton boiler and improve the ice hockey rink.
