A public opinion poll released Wednesday suggests that Senate President Earl Ray Tomblin's lead in the Oct. 4 special election for governor has narrowed.

Conducted over the Labor Day weekend by Public Policy Polling, the statewide poll shows Tomblin leading Republican challenger Bill Maloney by a 46 percent to 40 percent margin.
