Evans Lurking at Pga Club Pro Championship

Summary

GREENSBORO, Ga. - Barry Evans seems poised to make another run at the PGA Club Professional Championship.

The 2002 Club Pro winner shot an opening-round 2-under 70 Thursday on the Great Waters course at Reynolds Plantation and trails leader Paul Dietsche by four strokes. Evans, tied for 15th after the first round, is the head pro at Berry Hills, site of next week's West Virginia Open. Dietsche, based out of Arrowhead Country Club in San Bernadino, Calif., fired a 6-under 66 on the Reynolds Landing course to grab the lead from Scott Hebert, who played a bogey-free round and finished one shot off the pace.
