A large, enthusiastic crowd was on hand Nov. 2 for the results of the "Scary Stories" contest at Elkview Middle School, sponsored by the GFWC Elk Valley Woman's Club.

Open to EMS seventh-grade students, the contest was organized by the Elk Valley Woman's Club's Arts Committee, under the direction of its chairman, Susie Smith. Membership Committee Chairman Deanna Lucas served as the mistress of ceremonies for the Nov. 2 event. There were special guest appearances by Sonny and Cher, Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz" and Pooh Bear, and a special tribute was paid to English teachers Hillary Lancaster and Travis Vandal for their help with the contest.
