Drug Assistance Program Expands

WASHINGTON - Some low-income Medicare beneficiaries can get extra help in paying for their medicine under a program expansion announced Thursday by GlaxoSmithKline.

The program kicks in Jan. 1. It requires that beneficiaries first spend $600 of their own money on medicine each year. But after that point, the company would provide its medicine free through its patient assistance program.
