SCOTT DEPOT - Power company officials brought news reporters and television cameras to a Putnam County ridge Monday morning as part of a growing public relations effort in support of a high-voltage electrical transmission line they want to build across the heart of West Virginia.

On the eve of the first state Public Service Commission public hearings on the issue, American Electric Power and Allegheny Power touted the $1.8 billion PATH project as the answer to reliability problems in the eastern U.S. power grid.
