A Cross Lanes mother accused of fatally neglecting her 22-month- old son said Tuesday that she didn't think his injuries were life- threatening after he fell and hit his head on a coffee table.

Elizabeth Dawn Thornton, 21, testified in Kanawha Circuit Court that she was planning on taking her son, Constantine Alexander Washburn, to the hospital as soon as a friend with a car got home from work on May 29, three days after she saw him bang his head. He collapsed while she was trying to feed him soup for dinner, and she gave him CPR as a friend called 911, she said.
