'Cure Offer' Proposal Advances in Senate

Summary


Consumers must give businesses 20 days to right a perceived wrong before they sue under a bill amended and advanced Thursday by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Proposed by Gov. Joe Manchin, the bill (SB456) would give businesses a right to offer to "cure" the consumer's alleged loss, and head off a lawsuit.
