Classes Alleviate Inmate Crowding

Summary


The chief of operations for West Virginia's Regional Jails said the number of inmates serving misdemeanor charges has significantly increased in the past five years.

The West Virginia Regional Jail Authority has since developed ways to alleviate jail overcrowding by offering services to reduce misdemeanor sentences, said John Lopez, the authority's chief of operations.
