Summary


When Bob was 17, he talked his mother into signing papers to allow him to join the U.S. Army. That was 1965. By the time Bob left the Army in October 1970, he was an artillery/mortar expert with the 101st Airborne Division, had survived the Tet Offensive, and spent three years walking the Agent Orange-defoliated jungles of Vietnam.

In the years after the war, Bob suffered bouts of sickness and depression, and was eventually diagnosed with diabetes which was, years later, confirmed as being Agent Orange-related. Bob suffered a stroke as well as diabetic neuropathy in his hand, which had to be amputated. While on the mend, he developed oral cancer.
