Wednesday, Oct. 19 Rand History Center: The Kanawha Valley History Center, a genealogy and history research library, located on the second floor of the Rand Community Center, 5701 Church Drive, Rand, will be open from 9 a.m. to noon. The library has two computers for public or genealogy research with access to Ancestry.com and HeritageQuest, as well as research materials for students. The library is also available for use evenings by appointment. Contact Director Linda Hoskins, 304-925-2438, for more information. Thrift Store/Clothing Room: The Thrift Store and the free clothing room on the second floor of the Rand Community Center, 5701 Church Drive, Rand, will be open from 9 a.m. to noon. Seniors Day: The East End Family Resource Center in the Roosevelt Community Center on Charlestons East End will host a CURA speaker at noon. Arts and crafts, the computer lab, quilting and the weight room will all be available with instruction from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be served at noon and feature beef tips with gravy, rice, carrots, whole-wheat roll, applesauce, water, teas, coffee and milk. Debbie McHenry will lead an art instruction class for the after-school program at 4:30 p.m., as well. Thursday, Oct. 20 Tiskelwah Senior Chorus: A newly forming group of seniors at Tiskelwah Senior Center, 600 Florida St., Charleston is seeking a vocal musical volunteer director. If you are free at noon today, join the group at the center on Charlestons West Side. For more information, call 304-345-9700. Spooky Storytime: Things That Go Bump in the Night will be presented at 6 p.m. at the Riverside Branch Library in Belle.
