Now that U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd has declared his intent to run in 2006, West Virginia voters are waiting for the other shoe to drop - whether a big-name Republican will join the field seeking to unseat the eight-term Democrat.
U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., is expected to announce later this month whether she will challenge Byrd or seek a fourth term in the House of Representatives. Considered the GOP's strongest candidate for the Senate race, Capito has recently stepped up her criticism of Byrd but has otherwise not signaled her plans.See the full content of this document
