WASHINGTON - A frail Sen. Robert Byrd addressed the Senate for the first time in months Thursday to pay tribute to Sen. Edward Kennedy, his one-time rival and longtime dear friend.

In a strong voice that hasn't been heard on the Senate floor since February, the 91-year-old West Virginia Democrat - who spent several weeks in the hospital fighting life-threatening infections this spring and summer - reminisced about Kennedy's personal gestures, love of life and accomplishments in the Senate.
