COLUMBUS, Ohio - Big Lots Inc. said Chairman Michael Potter would relinquish his chief executive title and the company has hired Korn/ Ferry International to seek a replacement.

Potter will become the new chief strategy officer. The company said Potter asked for the move to relocate his family back to the West Coast.
