Summary


The good news is that in the "All Students" category all of Putnam County Schools met Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under federal No Child Left Behind legislation in 2007, the measure defined by the state as a "passing mark" under the requirements of NCLB.

This is based on the results of the West Virginia Educational Standards Test (or WESTEST). This test is designed specifically for West Virginia students in third through eighth and 10th grades, and includes three types of test items for students: multiple choice, short answer and constructed response.
