Summary


In bleak and tormented moments, I fear that the seeds for the next world war are caught in the cracks between what Europe and the United States have become. I fear the future combatants are angling into position almost entirely unaware of the paths they are on.

Daft as it sounds, I cannot shake this uneasy feeling when I read the news some days. As the United States loses its economic dominance in the world, overextends itself militarily and clashes with allies over environmental concerns, I worry that these tensions could get out of hand.
