Summary


When the Charleston Post Office was built in 1940, its architecture was not very welcome to many old Charleston residents who considered the 1911 Capitol Street post office (now the Kanawha County Public Library) more beautiful, with its stone columns and classic features.

Although you will easily recognize this 1940s postcard view of the Dickinson-Lee Street building, the grass is gone and many drastic architectural changes have been wrought over 64 years.
