Charleston Regional Chamber Supports Rail System Study
The Charleston Regional Chamber of Commerce recently announced its first legislative priority for the upcoming 2007 legislative session: a study of a regional rail system. The chamber is encouraging the Legislature to consider an appropriation to the West Virginia Port Authority, which would commission and manage a study that would result in specific deliverables related to a regional rail system:
2007 W.Va. Dnr Calendars Available
The 2007 West Virginia Wildlife Calendars are now available, according to Curtis I. Taylor, Chief of the Wildlife Resources Section of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. The cover of the wall calendar features a painting of a browsing white-tailed deer. This highly detailed painting is only one of the 12 paintings in this year's calendar, that also includes bobwhite quail, monarch butterflies and a picturesque vista of Blackwater Falls.
KARATE CLASSES The Charleston Shotokan Karate of America Club will start a karate class for beginners and for those with previous training on Tuesday, Jan. 2. CARB COUNTING CLASS FamilyCare will host a carbohydrate counting class from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11 and Thursday, Feb. 15 in the Family Enrichment Center in Charleston. Wvu Alumni Association Selects March-Westin to Build New Alumni Center
A firm with strong ties to the Morgantown community will build West Virginia University's new alumni center. The WVU Alumni Association announced that March-Westin has been selected as the contractor for the new 48,000 square-foot facility which will be built on WVU's Evansdale Campus.
