'Omen' Is yet Another Unneccesary Remake

REVIEW The Omen HH Rated R (bloody violence and brief, strong language) Directed by John Moore Starring Live Schreiber, Julia Stiles Marquee Cinemas, Park Place Stadium Cinemas All remakes are needless, but this update of "The Omen" is especially so.

Film Clips

* "THE BREAK-UP": HH Marquee Cinemas, Park Place Stadium Cinemas. Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston each have more than enough presence and comic timing to sustain this movie, but it's hard to see why their vastly different characters hooked up to begin with, let alone had a two-year relationship. Their break-up isn't tragic, and their subsequent attempts to drive one other from their shared condo play like an anemic version of the much meaner "War of the Roses." Rated PG-13. * "X-MEN: THE LA...

'Prairie Home' a Whimsical Fantasy

REVIEW A Prairie Home Companion HHH Rated PG-13 (risqu humor) Directed by Robert Altman Starring Garrison Keillor, Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Kline Park Place Stadium Cinemas "A Prairie Home Companion" is Robert Altman at his most Altmanesque. Any desire to see it should be gauged by your tolerance for meandering tracking shots, big, bizarre ensembles and a story that seems to drift on the winds of the hot air blown from the characters' overlapping dialogue.

Gameplayer: ; Pinball Game Is Full-Tilt Frustrating

Odama HH 1/2 Publisher: Nintendo System: Nintendo GameCube Cost: $9.99 Violence Rating: T Video pinball has been popular since its inception, but game developers have struggled to add new features to keep the genre fresh. Leave it to Nintendo, the leaders of ingenuity, to try to add more depth by fusing a pinball game with a strategy game. However, the resulting creation, "Odama," is equal parts innovation and frustration.

Localmusic: ; Several Decades of Metal in 1 Band

Stone Ka-Tet will release the band's new CD at the Empty Glass this Saturday night. The lineup has got to be one of the best I've seen in my time here covering local music: joining them on stage will be Gran Pappy's Lap, Year Long Disaster, the Hazard County Girls and Wooly Mammoth. Stone Ka-Tet (Lee Harrah, vocals; Roadblock, bass; Eric Seckman, drums; Dave Clendenin, guitar and Craig Dickinson, lead guitar) draws its version of stoner metal from two of metal's all-time heavyweights: Black S...
