Off the Record: ; Just Because Somebody Said It Doesn't Mean It's a Quotation
If newspapermen can be forgiven for anything, it must be for our becoming fascinated with quotations. It was probably around the Fourth of July, but I can't remember exactly what year it was when I first encountered the following quote:

Meet Rudy (ref. 8164), a Jack Russell/beagle-mix, and Magic (ref. 515), a 2-year-old, female cat. Rudy is a lively dog that can fetch, play Frisbee and catch. He's had his shots, and he gets along well with children and with other animals. He would need to be neutered before going to a new home. Magic is a nice cat and has had her shots.

Long-Term Care Employees Receive Scholarships
For the eighth straight year, the West Virginia Health Care Foundation has awarded the Herman Conaway Scholarship to several long-term care employees seeking higher education and training in their careers. Conaway is the first licensed nursing home administrator in West Virginia; he continues to be active in the profession.

Summer Programs Offered in Charleston
The City of Charleston Parks and Recreation Department is offering plenty of fun activities for youth this summer. Camps for cheerleading, basketball, volleyball, baseball, tennis and swimming will be offered. For those interested in exploring a new skill, classes also will be offered in art, karate and jujitsu.
Ten Riverside Seniors Receive Snodgrass Scholarships
The Thad Snodgrass Memorial Scholarship Fund has awarded scholarships of $1,500 each to 10 members of the 2006 Riverside High School graduating class. The 10 scholarships of $1,500 each sets a record for the highest amount awarded per student in the 27-year history of the program.

Church & Religious Group Activities
MIAMI VBS Miami Church of the Nazarene will have vacation Bible school from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 26-30. The theme is "Let's Go Fishin' - Getting Hooked on Jesus." There will be crafts, lessons, snacks and puppets. There will be a party June 30, with hot dogs, games and ice cream sundaes.

RAND/LEVI HOMECOMING The Rand/Levi Reunion/Homecoming is planned for June 30 and July 1-2 at Levi First Missionary Baptist Church, 5125 Church Drive, Rand. There will be lots of activities and plenty of food. Registration is $30 per adult (18 and older) and $15 per child. Registration includes a T-shirt and all the food you can eat and activities on Saturday, July 1. An awards banquet will be held on Sunday, July 2 at the Holiday Inn.
