Burley Tobacco Crop Insurance Changes in 2005
As a result of the recent tobacco quota buyout, the process for determining burley tobacco insurance guarantees will be changing significantly, beginning with the current (2005) crop year. In past years, burley insurance was based on a marketing quota assigned by the Farm Service Agency. Wvu Tech Hosts March Community Enrichment Classes
The Community and Technical College at West Virginia University Institute of Technology is providing the following community enrichment classes. These classes are non-credit and are open to the public. Pre-registration will be required for these courses. You may pre- register by calling 442-3149 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or calling 779-2084 after 5 p.m. Additional classes will be announced at a later date.

Calligraphers to Meet March 12
The Charleston Calligraphers Guild will hold its next monthly meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, at the Rock Lake Presbyterian Church at 905 Village Drive in South Charleston. This month's program features a review of the lowercase Italic hand with Jackie Pauley. Karol Simpson and Connie Walker will demonstrate how to create an ancestry binder that contains sewn pockets to hold letters and art tags.

West Virginia's First Lady to Speak at St. Anthony Dinner
West Virginia's First Lady, Gayle Manchin, will be the keynote speaker at the St. Anthony Scholarship Awards Dinner on Tuesday, March 8. The dinner honors citizens who have made outstanding contributions in education and community service, and the proceeds benefit scholarships for students. A reception begins at 6:15 p.m., followed by the dinner at 7 p.m. St. Anthony Parish is located at 1000 Sixth St. on Charleston's West Side.
Libraries Will Offer Bird, Irish, Costume Programs
Area libraries are offering a trio of special programs within the next week. Dr. Doug Jolley will present "Attracting Birds to West Virginia Gardens" at three area libraries. Jolley will give tips on the use of plantings, birdhouses and feeders to make your surroundings more attractive to birds year round.
